Adopting a new cat into your family can be one of lifes most exciting times and we'd love being a part of that moment for you!

If you're visiting this page, you're probably curious about our adoption process. Read on to learn more about adoptions at Cat Therapy.

A CAGE FREE ENVIRONMENT

Our comfy home-like space allows for our foster cat's true purrsonalities to shine, allowing you to meet your perfect match: A cat that you will fall in love with and that will also fit your lifestyle. Picture an adoption experience where you can relax and let the right cat tell you they're the "one".

At Cat Therapy you will meet playful ones, cuddly cats, crazy kittens, those shy kitties that once they warm up they'll love you unconditionally... all kinds of different personalities!

INCREASED ADOPTION RATES

We assist the local shelter ASAP in maintaining amazing adoption rates locally by providing them with an alternative platform to showcase their cats. By fostering them, we not only give them a different environment to live in until they're adopted, but we also help free up space in the shelter for new arrivals. The more kitties we get adopted, the more we can help rescue! Santa Barbara is proudly a no-kill city and we want to keep it that way! To date we have helped save over 830 cats and kittens.

VET CARE

Yup! We're spayed and neutered! All cats have received up to date vaccinations, a microchip, a FelV & FIV test, a deworming treatment and a general vet checkup. All of this is included in the adoption fee of $75. This fee is paid directly towards ASAP and we do not receive any commissions from adoptions. This is why Cat Therapy charges an entry fee to visit the cats. That is how we are able to pay for the care of these cats while they stay with us.

ADOPTION FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an age limit to adopt?

Yes! Adopters must be over the age of 18 to apply for a cat.

Is there a fee to adopt?

Applying to adopt is free! But if approved, adopters are asked for a $75 adoption fee per cat which goes to our nonprofit rescue partner ASAP. You will only pay this fee when you are ready to take the kitty home.

Are any of your cats solo cats?

Because of the nature of our cage-free space, cats that are transferred to us need to like other cats. This means that most of our cats have never been solo and enjoy a cat colony environment. A lot of our cats need to be adopted with a buddy, or to a home with a cat or cat friendly dog, but there are exceptions. That being said, if you're no ready to adopt two and have no other pets at home, ask our staff about any cats who could be single (we usually have a few!) or apply and our rescue partner will tell you about the single cats they have at their shelter. We can also notify you when any single cats become available at Cat Therapy.

How long does the application process take?

Once you've filled out your application, an adoption coordinator from ASAP will reach out to you within 48hrs. If they don't, please email us at hello@cattherapysb.com and we will inquire about the status of your application.

Are there any discounts for potential adopters to visit?

If you have a filled out adoption application, you can receive a 15% off your visit or package of visits with code "APPLICANT" so you can come in and get to know the cats. You'll just have to show your application confirmation at check-in. The reason we don't provide free visits is because our funding relies on visits, not adoptions, those fees are donated to the rescue we work with. The way we generate the revenue we need to care for our foster cats is through visit fees.
